Regent University announces new Center for Global Justice

Passionate about human trafficking, human rights, and doing something to put an end to global injustice?

Regent Law students, alumni and faculty refuse to turn a blind eye to the overt injustices endured by human beings at home and abroad - and we know your students won't turn a blind eye either.

That's why we recently launched our Center for Global Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law, which will give students classroom training, paid hands-on international internships, and clinical opportunities to serve as advocates for the oppressed.

The Center will also come alongside those already engaged in advocacy by sharing resources with, and building a network of, like-minded individuals and organizations with whom they can collaborate.

Elon University School of Law in North Carolina waives application fee

In June 2008, the Elon University School of Law received provisional accreditation by the American Bar Association (ABA). September 2010, Elon Law will host a team from the ABA as it seeks full accreditation at the earliest date possible under ABA guidelines, Spring 2011.

May 2009, the Elon Law charter class graduated and attained an 83% bar passage rate on the North Carolina Bar Examination. Summer 2009, the average bar passage rate of the N.C. bar exam was 73%. Summer 2010, Elon Law graduates continued to be successful on the N.C. bar exam with an 80% bar passage rate while the N.C. bar passage rate remained 73%. Elon Law students have also been successful with bar passage in other jurisdictions as well. Elon Law students not only receive a great legal education, they work closely with faculty, University leadership, and the legal community who all share a vision of cultivating lawyers who are equipped and inspired to lead.

Elon Law’s education program emphasizes total student development, exceptional legal knowledge and skills, engaged learning, international awareness and civic involvement incorporating the practices of the  world’s finest leadership education programs. Students may select one of four concentrations: business, litigation, public interest and general practice. The 84,000 square-foot law school facility in downtown Greensboro includes a multimillion-dollar library, the latest technology, and a spacious courtroom that also serves as the home of the North Carolina Business Court, making Elon Law one of only a handful of law schools in the nation to house a working court. The school’s location provides its students access to learning opportunities in the area’s leading law firms, courts, businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. August 2010, the law school enrolled 344 students.

The admissions department will begin accepting applications October 1st! The $50 application fee is waived from October 1st – December 31st.

University of Cincinnati Law School - Admissions News

studentsSchool has begun for the College of Law's 144 first-year students. On August 16, 2010 the Class of 2013 started their academic careers with "Intro to Law," the week-long orientation program designed to acclimate students to the law school environment. This year's incoming class is an impressive, diverse group. Boasting a median LSAT score of 161, they range in age from 21 to 54. They hail from 74 undergraduate institutions, and include roughly 50 different undergraduate majors. According to Al Watson, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid, "Half of the class is from outside Ohio (representing 27 states and four countries: China, Iran, Nigeria, and Germany), while members of minority populations make up 20% of the class."
Applications at the College of Law grew significantly in 2010, up 38% over the previous year (the overall national average for applications grew by only 7.1% during the same period according to the Law School Admission Council). This increase led to the most applications - 1,823 - ever received in one year at Cincinnati Law. "We believe many applicants are attracted to our small size, strong reputation and outstanding clinics and faculty. All of this is coupled with a tuition rate that helps save students money and hopefully enables them more flexibility with the job market upon graduation," states Dean Watson.
